Cougar Card Overview

The Cougar Card is the official College of Charleston identification card issued to members of the College community. Students use the card to:

  • Access the dining plan and dining dollars account in campus locations
  • Check out library materials and purchase printing and photocopy services
  • Access campus recreation services
  • Attend College of Charleston sporting events free of charge
  • Swipe to enter assigned residence hall
  • Ride Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) buses free of charge
  • Use as a personal debit card to access funds in a Cougar Cash account

The Cougar Cash account allows students to draw on pre-deposited funds to purchase products and services on campus. Cougar Cash is accepted at:

Depositing Cougar Cash Online

Authorized Users may deposit funds to Cougar Cash or Dining Dollars using the eBill system. Electronic checks and all major credit cards may be used. Deposits are not subject to a convenience fee and will be available within two hours.

From www.cofc.edu select MyCharleston located on the top border of the page

  1. The Welcome to MyCharleston page will display. In the left column are Quick Links; select eBill and log on.
  2. The eBill will open in a new window; maximize the window to be able to see all options.
  3. Go to the Deposits tab, select the term and Cougar Cash.
  4. Enter the amount and preferred payment method.
  5. Confirm to process.

Depositing Cougar Cash by Mail

You can pay with a check or money order to Campus Services HQ, College of Charleston, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC 29424. Please mark the item with the student’s name and Cougar Cash.

Depositing Cougar Cash in Person

Deposits may be made using cash, check, money order, or major credit card. Funds will be active immediately.

The College of Charleston is prohibited by law from performing banking transactions and therefore cannot make full or partial refunds to students still enrolled in school. Cash may not be withdrawn from the Cougar Cash Account and the card will not function as an ATM card. Deposits to Cougar Cash are not accepted over the telephone or by fax.

Cougar Cash Account Closure

The Cougar Cash account will be closed if the cardholder ceases to be a student at the College of Charleston. Campus Services HQ will refund the account balance after receipt of a written request from students who are graduating. Upon competition of the proper paperwork, Campus Services HQ will be notified by the Center for Academic Performance and Persistence for those students taking a leave of absence or withdrawing from the College. No refunds will be issued for account balances less than $10. Refunds will be issued via direct deposit if an account is set up with the Treasurer’s Office. If direct deposit is not set up, a check will be mailed to the primary address on file or as stated in the request. The College of Charleston reserves the right to close any account that is inactive for 18 months or more. Balances in accounts that are inactive for more than 18 months will be reclaimed.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 is designed to protect the confidentiality of the records that educational institutions maintain on their students and to give the students access to their records to assure the accuracy of their contents. Campus Services HQ is unable to share specific information regarding a student account with anyone other than the student.
